Activities
  • Top level meetings and consultations with government and community leaders in Africa, India, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and the Far East.

  • Consultations with the Commonwealth Secretary-General and leaders of the Commonwealth Secretariat.

  • Biennial Conferences held in London, Gibraltar, Canada, Barbados, Hong Kong, Israel and South Africa.

  • Creation of regional links between Commonwealth communities.

  • Assistance to communities in coping with problems caused by isolation from sources of Jewish religious requirements.

  • The strengthening of religious life of commonwealth countries, including assistance with the provision of religious and educational facilities and leadership; the relief of poverty; and where appropriate the preparation of contingency plans.

Projects
  • Support for the restoration of synagogues, including Jamaica, Barbados, India, Nevis and Malta.

  • Support for restoration of cemeteries, including those in Belize, Cyprus, Fiji, Nevis and Zimbabwe.

  • Financing of educational and travel scholarships.

  • Arranging and sponsoring the provision of Student Ministers and others who have provided their services voluntarily to conduct High Holy day services in several Commonwealth countries.

  • Financial support for the only Jewish school in Harare, Zimbabwe.

  • Meetings with Heads of Government and State of: Australia, Barbados, Canada, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Malta, Mauritius, Namibia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

  • Formal and informal discussions with leaders of most other Commonwealth countries, some not represented on the Council and with other world leaders, political or religious.
